Marigny swimming pool
Here is a project we just wrapped up 3/2014 in the Marigny. It was a small backyard that had access issues. We had to dig this 10’X25′ swimming pool with shovels and wheelbarrow the dirt to dumpsters at the street. This pool features a suntan ledge, long bench, a non fading blue plaster, and a wall that I will explain. The wall originally was going to be made of brick like so many NOLA swimming pools have. We the owners relative came up with a Los Vegas theme for the wall that turned out to be a wonderful focal point. The wall was drawn on concept by paper but had to be constructed to work. The pool’s skimmer was suppose to be behind the brick wall but this new wall was thicker so we had to get angle iron to bridge across. We had to add on to the pool wall with a concrete footer so that the wall was the right thickness. The wall was finished with a classic stacked stone and had a New Orleans tie in with two Flambeaux gas lanterns that were made of copper. The lower part of the wall had a 4′ stainless steel remote controlled fire trough with lava rocks. The wall also presented a problem, because the owner wanted two 18″ waterfalls vs. the 3 spitters we were going to do in the brick wall. I had to run a bigger plumbing line for the waterfalls and had to order a special, bottom plumbed waterfall vs. the rear plumbed. The rear plumbed would have hit the fire trough. The owner also decided to upgrade to a colored LED light and I talked him into doing a modern granite tiled fleur de lis in the suntan ledge. This pool also featured a gold colored travertine on the cap of the wall and the pool coping, with a medium river travertine paver set on a french pattern. We also, set travertine on his step down from his porch so that he would have equal steps to the pool. This thing turned out to be a masterpiece.
