Northshore Pool

We finished up this northshore pool in the winter of 2010 and the owners just got their gorgeous spring landscaping in.  There are photos on our site during the construction process but here are final photos.  This northshore pool has noche french pattern paver decking with noche bullnose coping.  The pool also has a large suntan ledge with 3 bubblers, an umbrella hole and the suntan ledge, steps and benches have tile markers on the outside perimeter.  The pool also has a stacked stone radius wall with a 4′ sheer decent waterfall. The pool has a white plaster and has a Nature II purification system.  This is a show off pool and the owners are GREAT and HAPPY people.  Thanks James and Rachael!!!  Keep checking our website for updated photos on our projects!

Kenner Pool ***UPDATED*** Job Completed

Pool spa combo

 

Here is our swimming pool in Kenner.  It has a raised stacked stone/tile hot tub with 2 blowers, a suntan ledge with 3 bubblers and umbrella hole.  It has Belguard Dublin paver decking.  The pool also has a rock waterfall furnished by the owner. The spa overflow gives a nice “rain” sound with the water flowing over into the pool over the whole face of the spa.  Having a pool spa combo sets a nice scence on top of having a visible waterfall and having water sound!

Some more new projects

Here are a few of our new pool work /s.  I will add photos to update these jobs as they progress.  One is in Bush, one in Gretna, the final photos are a renovation from Old Metairie.  The Old Metairie pool we added new tile and replastered the pool with a fade resistant midnight blue plaster.  The pool in Bush, far left photos, is 8.5′ deep with a diving board, has 3 benches, a suntan ledge with 3 bubblers and a umbrella hole, a hot tub, and raised tile wall. The Gretna job will have a raised stack stone wall, with an extra large suntan ledge.

Our Mandeville complete Renovation! ***Updated*** Completed!

Pool renovation

 

This pool had a horrible placement of steps into the pool, NO benches, NO pool light, a water feature built on wood legs, plumbing that leaked, the pool returns ran in 3/4″ pipe, minimal decking with brick coping, a gazebo that was not tied into the pool with great access, a top mount small sand filter.  We started this pool renovation by draining the pool, chipping the existing white plaster and removing the tile and brick coping.  Then it was time to install a suntan ledge to the pool with an umbrella hole.  We drilled into the existing pool structure with steel rods and set cinder block as a wall.  Then we back filled it with a  load of sand, after more steel was drilled into the walls of the pool and it was interlocked like a house slab.  We followed by pouring concrete over the sand and did the same for the steps/newly installed bench on this pool renovation.  We also, jack hammered the pool decking to install new travetine decking.  We also jack hammered new holes into the pool wall for 5 new 1.5″ returns and a new 1.5″ inlet for the Polaris pool cleaner.  Also we removed the old concrete skimmers and installed 2 new modern skimmers on this pool renovation.  We poured a new filter/equipment slab and replumbed the whole pool to the new equipment location.  We installed a new Pentair Cartridge filter.  We also poured concrete to make a new wall where the old steps use to be.

 

Now the cosmetics of this pool renovation :

We installed new tile around the ring of the pool and installed new travertine pool coping.  Next up was installing the french pattern travertine pavers with 3 steps going down as the pool was higher/on a hill than the house.  Lastly on this pool renovation we applied a medium blue plaster to finish it off.

Our Febuary jobs

God has blessed us so far this year!  We are lining up some jobs and they include one in Gretna, one uptown New Orleans, about to begin one in Kenner, then one in Bush and finally one in Nine Mile Point.  To keep quality at a high soon we may have to have a waiting list!  We are a hands on company and that is the way this company was founded.  Quality construction over Quantity construction!  I will be adding photos soon so please check up on the website.  The pool in Gretna has been dug and gunited, plus we have put the equipment and plumbing in.  The pool uptown the same has happened.  Monday the 21st we will begin the pool in Kenner that will feature a stone hot tub/spa and a rock waterfall.  The pool in Bush will be highlighted with travertine paver decking, a raised tile wall, a spa and diving board.  The pool in Nine Mile Point on the westbank will feature a raised spa/hot tub, raised wall with waterfall and separate pump so that they can run the waterfall while in the hot tub, suntan ledge and slate coping.  Anyway if you are anybody you know looking for a pool to be constructed please advise them our way.  We will NOT let you or your name down!  We do not emphasize the WOW factor of salesmanship but the construction of the actual pool.  Like my father tells clients that show him a 3D print of a potential client to show him the shape they may want, “the computer doesn’t build the pool, it may wow you but ends at a piece of paper”  That is the philosophy we stand behind.  Anyway keep checking in!

Why does a pool need a tile band or tile line?

Under your pool coping and above your plaster in your swimming pool lies a band of pool tile.  You may ask yourself why do I need to put tile there?  Or, why do I have to pick a certain type of pool tile to go there?  Well those are good questions

 

to ask.  First, the skimmer or skimmers in your pool has a opening or throat.  The tile will usually enclose the skimmer/s.  The reason you don’t have plaster going all the way up to the bottom part of your skimmer is because plaster needs water to prevent it from cracking.  If it is exposed to pure air without water it will crack at least get hairline cracks.  If it does so the pool would be susceptible to leaking there.  That is the reason you have pool tile there.  To answer the second part of the question, you must select a pool tile that is frost proof.  If the pool tile is not frost proof, during a possible freeze the tile can actually pop off of the pool.  Tile today comes in very many different colors/styles.  Most people today are going with the more earthy, monochromatic colors.  If you chose a pool tile with a pattern you may get bored or tired of the tile in a short time.  The more busy the tile the more you may not like it long term.  If you have any pool related problems or any questions email me at kevin@nolapools.com. Our philosophy is to be on the job at all constructions phases.  We are at 3 pools for this month with one more about to sign.  We will never build more than 6 at one time.  Anymore over that our quality/handson philosophy would go out the window and we would become like most of our competition.  Soon if the count continues we will be forced to establish a waiting list.  This list may not make some happy to wait but when it is their turn to have their pool built they will be happy when they get 100% of our attention.  This is a long term business approach and that is why Crystal Pools and Spas has been successful under one name since 1984.  This business model is the way all companies should approach it but greed can kick in and quantity controls quality.  That is a losing business model, at least long term.  Well we hope we are continued to be blessed and keep building the best pools in our market!!!!!!

Pool contractor , who, why??

Here are reasons you should choose us over our competitors to be your swimming pool contractor :

1 )  Honesty– you can trust Jeff and Kevin to be your swimming pool contractor, bottom line.  You choose us for your job it’s in our hands.  We are good Christian guys and are very trustworthy.  We won’t tell you a fib just to get your job then later changing what we said in a contract to make extra money.   Every pool contractor will say they are the best and do everything they can to get your job but when they do get your job most pool contractors aren’t worried about your job anymore.  They are worried about chasing the next one.  We assure you this is NOT our business philosophy!  Your job is VERY important to us!!!  Also, if you are referred to us it is by a TRUE referral.  We won’t give handouts/kickbacks to somebody just to refer us.  That is what is wrong with the country, everybody has a hand in everybody’s pocket.  Unlike some of our competition our referrals are honest referrals.  As a homeowner, it’s like trying to figure out what political candidate you can trust.  Everybody is saying what you want to hear but it’s trying to figure out who is telling the TRUTH!!!   We assure you, we will tell you the truth and not just what you want to hear!  The main thing is we won’t give you a cheap price but you won’t get a cheap product!

2 ) Supervision– we are the pool contractor that builds.  Unlike most of our competitors we are there in all the phases of your investment.  We don’t just fax our sub-contractors plans of your job with an address and depend they will give you a good job.  We truly supervise as a pool contractor and get involved in the project and let our voice be heard over our sub-contractors.  Isn’t this why you are hiring a pool contractor in the first place?

3 ) Hands on– for instance we do in house sales-calls, plumbing of the pool/equipment installation, start-up and instruction of the pool, trash clean-up/haul off, etc.  We are a swimming pool contractor that not only have tool boxes on our trucks but we have USED tools because that’s what we do.  NO other pool contractor will OUTWORK us!!!

4 ) Grade A materials– a pool can be equipped with a lot of different combinations of equipment/materials.  We use the best products on the market. Remember when comparing quotes break it down and compare apples to apples.  Ask what equipment and size equipment the swimming pool contractor /s you are quoting are bidding on.  Most of the time a pool contractor bids the cheapest combination of materials just to get the job.  Remember YOU will be the one that pays for that mistake.  Our pools are built with the best combinations on the market.  Big filter, big pump, etc. = less future headaches.

5 ) Grade A subcontractors– in the pool world there are many different subcontrators in varius fields out there to be used.  Some are really cheap and some are more expensive to use.  We use subcontractors that are the best in their respective field and Jeff has been using for 10+ years and one of the subcontractors he has been using since 1984.  On top of using the best crews our market has available we supervise all of our crews and will even get dirty with those crews if a job requires. Will your swimming pool contractor do that?

6 )  Problem solvers– every job is different and different jobs have different obstacles thrown at it. If a problem EVER happens on your job, instead of ignoring a phone call because of fear like most people would, we’ll attack the problem and come up with the appropriate solution.  There’s no sense to avoiding obstacles but instead taking the appropriate course of action to address whatever that problem may be. Does/will your swimming pool contractor attack or avoid ANY problem/s??

7 ) Availability– when you choose us we are available for YOU! We give you both Jeff and Kevin’s cell phone number and our house number.  When you feel like you have a concern/question please feel free to call.  We get calls all the time on weekends and after hours with questions from even PRIOR customers.  You have hired us to comfort you not to give you a client number and process your job.  Once you choose us you become part of our FAMILY! Relationships carry on for a lifetime and no different with your pool.

8) Timeliness-  We are a pool contractor that does not take on more than we can chew.  There are pool contractor /s that you may have heard of taking over a year to build a pool!  We average 4.5 weeks from the day we dig our pools till the day you are swimming!!  The problem with most companies are they chase their next job and don’t focus on your/their current job/s.  We are a pool contractor because we build under 20 pools per year, we can focus and hustle on your job!

9 ) Warranty– We have been in business since 1984.  If you have a problem with anything even after your project is installed be assured that we are still here for you.  Remember that a warranty is only good as to how long the pool contractor you chose has been and will be in business.  For instance, a HUGE liability for a state licensed pool contractor is giving you the customer a lifetime structural warranty of your pool.  So if your pool gets a structural crack in it it is the pool contractor s responsibility to fix the problem by whatever means it takes to do so.  So if a pool contractor keeps changing their name even by a letter or adding something to their name your warrnaty is VOIDED!!! We have been under the same name and never refiled for a name change since Jeff started Crystal Pools in 1984, so all of our prior customers have good warranty’s for their structure.  That should ease your mind, and knock on wood we have NEVER had a pool structure crack (because of supervision and knowledge) or pool pop out of the ground!!!

There are even more reasons to go with us to be your pool contractor but just remember this- you get US when you choose us! Unlike most companies that will only give you three referrals, or their best/most happy clients we feel you should get all of one’s clients good and bad.  You, the homeowner shouldn’t feel required to know what you are looking at in order to build your pool, but you should feel comforted in knowing you chose the best/most knowledgeable pool contractor on the market.  Your only decision’s should be on the cosmetic end of your job with advice from your pool contractor.  A good pool contractor ‘s job is to guide you and help make informative decisions but ABOVE ALL to build you the best pool using all the knowledge they have.  We promise you a few things we WILL use our knowledge because we WILL be in your backyard (kind of hard using our knowledge being somewhere else), and we will give you 100% of our maximum effort to build your pool as we were building our own swimming pool.  And that is all you can ask for!
