Here is a project for us for 2013. It is a complete swimming pool renovation. The job is located in Kenner and the pool needed LOTS of help! The plumbing lines were leaking, the filter was no good, the equipment was inefficient. The pool had an aging plaster, no bench located inside the pool, Cool-deck decking that was outdated and had a bad color. The rear porch was a uneven brick that had a step down off of the Cool Deck. There was a wooden step that lead to inside of the house. Also, there was a porch roof that was failing and another decking product, wood. The owner had the old roof taken down and installed an aluminum roof with fans and they removed the wood deck. We removed the old Cool-Deck, removed the old tile and plaster, removed the old filter and located the pool equipment off of the old pool deck. The pool light needed fixing and we installed a new one. We took off their sand filter and added a big cartridge filter. We also converted the pool from chlorine to salt water! We added a seating bench to the pool and installed a travertine paver pool deck that had one fall/slope to the house. We also tied in all of the drains coming off of the aluminum roof so that the water wouldn’t sit on the decking. We installed new perimeter tile and replastered the pool with a Baja blue plaster color from white.

Swimming pool deck renovation
Here is a job in Harahan Louisiana that has Kool deck concrete decking. This swimming pool deck was installed in a weird formation and slope by another company. There are a lot of cracks in the concrete decking so we will remove all the old decking and flagstone coping and install a travertine bullnose coping along with travertine french pattern paver decking. This swimming pool deck renovation will take about a week to complete.
Metairie swimming pool
Here is our latest project for May 2013. It is in Old Metairie and the yard had tight access. We maximized the pool by going as close to the parish’s restrictions to the property lines. The swimming pool will feature a 12″ raised spa 3’9″ wide by 9′ long. The back of the spa will be set higher with a waterfall spilling into the spa it has two different colored glass tiles with a rain waterfall shooting into it. This Metairie swimming pool will also feature a 12″ wall, suntan ledge and travertine pool deck. In the suntan ledge we built 5 travertine stepping platforms that leads to the custom spa.

Inground pool
Here is a project Crystal Pools is working on for March 2013. This inground pool is the second swimming pool we are building for the owner in a one year period as the first one was at his residence in Baton Rouge. The owner has had three in ground swimming pools built prior to the one we built in Baton Rouge. His prior contractors did not live up to his expectations and you can read his testimonial in the contact us page. This New Roads swimming pool is in Ventress Louisiana and is rectangular in shape. The dimensions are 15’X30′ and features a suntan ledge with 5 bubblers and a 25′ long bench. The pool will have a course and a half of brick for the coping and a stone decking. The pool was elevated with a retaining wall made of brick. The pool is 6 feet in depth and has two main drains plus two skimmers.

Why should I even hire a swimming pool contractor??
Why hire a pool contractor
So you are looking to have a swimming pool built in your backyard. You’ve waited a long time and had visions of spending countless summers enjoying the swimming pool with your family. The birthday parties, the 4th of July family get togethers, your children’s friends “hangout spot”. So now you are finally looking to move forward with your dreams. So who should you hire, why should you hire a pool builder… Well let’s first go to that all builders are not created equally. Some work off of volume, leaving you as a number and some builders just fax or email plans to subcontractors and hope they do their job. In the New Orleans and Baton Rouge area, there are builders everywhere. But one major question, are they actually a builder. Do they call subcontractors to show up to do your job when they can get to it or does the builder build relationships with the subcontractors where their jobs are put to the front. Does your builder even check on the work of their crew??? All work should be looked over but not in a way where it’s just looked at. A trained swimming pool builder should know what to look for so that NO mistakes are made or no shortcuts were made to save time or money.
First lets state, if you are going to hire the cheapest company should you ask yourself if you should even hire a company at all. If you are paying a company that just calls out things to be done/line things up, couldn’t you do that??? Or if you were to hire another company that you think “WOW” this company has so many referrals! Do you think maybe that company builds say 80+ pools per year and you will be a number. Sure they get say 50 new referrals per year but what happened to the other 30 that were left behind very disappointed. Where a company that builds 15 pools per year and gets 15 happy customers every year, wouldn’t that be what you would want?
If I were purchasing anything that would have to be built like a swimming pool, I would want a company that would be on my job and dictating instruction to his workers rather than taking advice from the workers. Also, I would want to be a name and not a number to that builder. When some companies take on more than they can chew, you are the one that is left feeling like a number rather than an important client which leads to my next point. I would want my project done in a timely manner. Well the company that works off of volume, can’t possibly build a pool in a timely manner. If they were to try, they would have 3 tile and coping subcontractors, 4 deck crews, 3 plumbers etc. So what happens to quality control???? Can you expect the same product from different entities? Or if the contractor that works off of volume do you think if they only had one crew per job to be done, do you possibly think they can complete a job in a timely manner. Especially when they have 10+ jobs going on at all times all year long.
At the end of the day when you are looking to hire a swimming pool builder I’m sure cost is a huge issue but a larger issue should be you being very important to your builder, where you get an answered phone call on a Sunday morning due to your concern. Also, somebody that will actually let’s say investigate your jobs so that there are no issues with the integrity of your job. Also, your job being built in a timely manner so that you can enjoy your pool with water in it rather than a backyard full of mud and concrete.
What you will get with Crystal Pools and Spas is a company that has competitive prices, that has been in business under one name since 1984, a company that will supervise and be VERY involved throughout your project. A company that has a built relationship with their different crews (we do not use 2 tile “guys”, etc.), and that means us being put at the top of the list vs our competitors. You will not only be our customer for the process of your job but we will build a relationship for the future. If you have an issue 20 years later, we are still here for you! We do not hide behind the Crystal Pools and Spas logo/emblem but you get us, Jeff and Kevin Knott. We represent our logo. You are not hiring Crystal Pools but you are hiring the actual owners of the company. If you have any questions or need any help with your decision process just call or email us! Good luck!!!!
