Suntan Ledge
A suntan ledge is a shallow water area inside of a swimming pool. It is usually the same depth as a top step inside of a pool, usually around 8″ in depth. This area is a great area for the kids and adults alike. Kids like to sit in this area and splash around in the water while adults like to either lay and tan or set a chair on the suntan ledge and soak their feet inside the water and read a book. It is also a great way to get a inexpensive water feature, the bubbler. A bubbler is a water feature that will come out of the floor of the suntan ledge and shoot water upwards. Bubblers look good with at least 3 or more, and kids love to stand on one to make the others shoot higher. Crystal Pools and Spas puts the bubblers on a separate Jandy Never Lube valve so that you can choose the desired height of the bubblers. Also a popular choice on the top of the suntan ledge is an umbrella hole, where you can insert a umbrella pole into the hole on top of the suntan ledge. The umbrella gives the kids a nice shaded area to play on or a nice shaded area for you to enjoy a book or drink! Usually you want to keep a suntan ledge over at least 30 ft.2.
