Today’s swimming pool
Today’s swimming pool constructed today is constructed differently than your pool of the 1970’s-1990’s. Today’s swimming pool designed back then were largely built with these items: kidney shaped, depth of 4′ to 8′, diving board, slide, Kool Deck, white plaster. Today people are designing custom shapes, game pool depth of 3.5′ to 5.5′ to 4′, benches, suntan ledge, pavers, colored plaster, computer systems. Most pools were the same 20-30 years ago and today everybody wants something different, something that is going to appeal to that specific family. Deeper isn’t better, consumers today are looking for a smaller pool that in functional for all occasions. Shallower pools are being built with benches and suntan ledges for adults and children to be able to relax and enjoy the water. The typical person today that wants a pool solely to swim laps is probably going to be a member of a gym rather than a pool owner. Pavers, especially travertine pavers are the new current in thing to do. Travertine doesn’t get hot on your feet and looks dynamite!. While travertine does cost more than other deck materials it’s upside is tremendous. For instance, if you have a pipe that is leaking under your decking you do not have to have somebody jackhammer up concrete and then try to patch it (and it doesn’t match exactly or even at all). People are going automated or a computer system when a hot tub or spa is built. Custom colored plasters are also a hit today which I went into detail in another post on this site. Slides and diving boards overall are a thing of the past because liability, required depth of the swimming pool and lastly most are an eye soar.
